I've been a member of the modern Jesus army in Leicester since around 1997. You've probably seen the church's brightly coloured minibuses or double-decker buses around about.
Some of the fellowship practise living a community lifestyle which basically means they live together in an extended family situation in a large house where they share their possessions and wealth in a common purse. This is inspired by the radical model of the early church as described in Acts 2:44 and elsewhere.
The mJa is located in several locations around the United Kingdom and has a excellent website that provides details of meeting places and our faith and practise. We also produce the quarterly Jesus Life magazine and the modern Jesus army Streetpaper which you can receive freely by contacting our central offices and asking to be put on the mailing list.
We have two community households in Leicester. One household is called Springfield House (Springfield Road, Stoneygate), where we have two properties, the main house and the smaller annexe, and the other household is called Narrow Way (Cambridge Street, West End).
We meet together at both houses several times a week:
Wednesday evenings (small 'servent/cell' groups) at various locations
Thursdays at 7:30pm (friendship meal) in community houses
Saturday at 7:30pm (household meetings) in community houses
Sunday at 11am (worship congregation) at Northfields Neighbourhood Centre with
folk from the Nottingham household
Sunday at 7pm (small groups) in three locations: Beaumont Leys, Oadby and Bede
Island
